Progress report on Staff Council workstreams arising from the England pay deal                    [England only]       

This circular gives a progress report on some of the key work streams that have come out of the three-year pay deal for England. In particular it invites branches to give comments on a draft new handbook annex for the new pay progression system [HC-119-18]

 

NHS Long Term Plan (England)                             [England only]

The NHS Long Term Plan (LTP) is due to be published in early December 2018. UNISON has been representing staff-side on the workforce workstream making it clear that a well funded and well trained workforce is vital to the delivery of all NHS services. Phase two of the LTP will be more local development of the plan. Make sure that you’re involved in this and that the staff voice is heard [HC-120-18]

 

New materials for Operating Department Practitioners              [All Health Branches]      

Two new leaflets are available, one outlining the role of operating department practitioners (ODPs) aimed at NHS staff and the public, and the other to help recruit ODPs into UNISON [HC-121-18]

 

UNISON survey on Health and Care Professions Council’s (HCPC) proposal to increase fees now open!     [All Ambulance Branches/Members working within Science, therapy & Technical (STAT) roles]      

UNISON branches are being asked to encourage all members working within STAT roles and ambulance staff to take part in our survey on the HCPC proposal to further increase its registration fees by a massive 18% from £90 to £106. The deadline to complete the survey is Sunday 9 December [HC-122-18]

 

UNISON bids to overturn sleep-in ruling in the Supreme Court        [All Health Branches]      

This circular updates branches on the legal situation with payment of sleep-in shifts and the National Minimum Wage, and UNISON’s intention to make an appeal to the Supreme Court [HC-123-18]

 

Health Conference 2019 motions deadline is 30 November                                               

Health Conference 2019 is being held in Bournemouth from 8 to 10 April.  Branches are encouraged to submit motions to the Conference and to encourage and support first time speakers to participate in the debates. The closing date for motions to be submitted via the online conference system (OCS) is 30 November 2018.  See the Health Conference bulletin for detailed guidance on using the OCS and on registering your branch delegates: https://www.unison.org.uk/content/uploads/2018/09/2019-Health-Conference-Bulletin.doc.pdf
